Communicorp’s newest designer, Julie Sanders, was honored by the Advertising Federation of Columbus as the 2009 Graphic Designer of the Year at an awards banquet held February 20th at the Columbus Iron Works Trade and Convention Center. The award was a centerpiece for nine ADDY awards presented to Communicorp for achievement in design and print.
Julie was responsible for four of the ADDY awards; her designs for Communicorp’s Thanksgiving card and collateral for the 2010 Aflac Convention won gold awards, as did her work for the 2011 Aflac President’s Club, which she co-designed with fellow designer Toy Bagwell. Julie’s creativity on the 2010 Aflac Calendar earned a silver award.
Toy Bagwell also took home four ADDY awards. In addition to his winning collaboration with Julie Sanders, Toy earned a gold award for Aflac’s Smart Green logo and a silver award for the Childcare4America logo commissioned by Childcare Network, Inc. He also won a silver award for the Aflac Tenure Commemorative CD for Employee Appreciation Week, the CD being a first-time venture in this medium for Aflac’s tenured employees. Angelo Ribeiro developed the very imaginative Flash components for this piece.
Robin Riley won two additional silver ADDY awards; Communicorp’s self-promotion The Event and a project for Walden Pond, commissioned by the Woodruff Company, were both honored during the evening.
