Here’s how the Atlanta Tribune heralded its selection of Eric Seldon as a Man of the Year:
God first, family second, then the business. That is the hierarchy by which Eric Seldon, senior vice president of insurance giant Aflac, and president and CEO of marketing firm Communicorp, prioritizes his life. Seldon, who began at Aflac 12 years ago as an operations manager in client services, remembers Aflac’s CEO Dan Amos passing along that essential advice in his early days with the company. ‘He said if you keep things in that order, typically things work out. And that’s what I do. I follow that and things typically work out for me,’ says Seldon, also a pastor, husband and father. Hard work and having a great team have helped propel his professional endeavors. As the vice president of business services at Aflac, Seldon oversees several departments and divisions including new business, corporate underwriting, account relations and support services. He attributes his success to his relationship with his team. ‘I believe in surrounding myself with people who are much better than I am and treating those folks right. If I treat those folks right, they typically take care of the business.’
